Yet another attempt at a night sky picture using an iPhone. The clouds in front of the moon last night were to cool not to try again. -

It was a pretty windy day today, gray and overcast. But it cleared out a bit this evening, and the clouds came racing across sky, painted pink by the setting sun.It was a very lovely evening. Which was nice, cause it’s gonna snow 2-4 inches on Sunday.
I wish I were kidding.

Once in a while, as I walk during my lunch break, I come across a visual that reminds me of just how tiny we humans are. Most of the time, it’s clouds that make me feel that way. I have a bit of a love affair with clouds, so this is probably not the last picture you’ll see on this blog of clouds. In this case, I thought I’d post this photo, since, a few days from now, the sky will be gray and snow will be falling. Springtime in New England, folks. -
I still really struggle with night photography on the iPhone. Then again, in fairness, the iPhone doesn’t have the full range of capabilities that a SLR camera has (the iPhone has a fixed aperture, which can’t be changed no matter what app you use) and I’m always trying to take picture of the moon (a really difficult subject).I snapped this one using night mode on ProCam. The thing I like most is that it captured the beauty of the clouds and trees in the moonlight. And Venus. I think that smaller dot is Venus.
The thing I don’t like is that there was just no way to tone down how bright the moon was in the shot. It totally overpowered the rest of the sky.
I’ll keep trying, but for now, this is what I got.

I love clouds. Love em. For me, for reasons I’ve not been interested in understanding, clouds, and the sky itself, fascinate me utterly.This is what the sky looked like over my office yesterday when I went out to walk off lunch. This is an unfiltered image.
